Commission FAQ

What is a commissioned painting?

A commissioned painting is a painting specifically tailored to the requirements of a client and can be anything from portraits, landscapes to any subject.

Can I commission a painting from Alastair Faulkner Art?

Yes. The first step is to complete a commission form which I then review and we can discuss in further detail the requirements and cost of your commission.

How much does a commission cost?

The final cost of the commission depends on the size, subject and delivery location of the art work and the agreed price will encompass all these factors.

When do I pay?

Once the commission and the price has been agreed, I will send the client a contract to be reviewed and signed prior to undertaking the work. In addition to this a non-refundable deposit accounting for a third of the final price will be required before any work is undertaken. The remaining balance will be requested prior to shipping and delivery of the work.

Can I review the commission?

Yes, I’m keen to insure you are happy with the direction of the commission. Once I have received the deposit and I have started the work, I will send sketches and initial paintings. I will then send a photo of the finished piece prior to shipping and delivery in case any further changes need to be made. A commission is a dialogue and if at any point a client wishes to see progress I can send further images.

Can I request changes to a commission if I’m not happy?

A degree of trust is required of the client towards me with regards to the direction and vision of the final work. If, however the final work is not how you intend it to be please let me know and we can discuss any changes that can be incorporated prior to shipping and delivery.

Can I cancel a commission?

Yes. You can cancel at anytime however if work has begun and you have paid an initial deposit this won’t be refunded.

How are the commissions delivered or shipped?

All commissions will be sent via secure courier delivery and you will be notified a rough delivery date and time.
